Flap Discs, Cutting Wheels & Grinding Wheels

  • Flap Discs are an abrasive product used to contour and shape metal. They consist of overlapping abrasive flaps glued to a backing plate and are regularly used for welding, machining, heavy-duty equipment work, and industrial maintenance. Common applications include: Cleaning flash from molds and castings.
  • Cutting wheels, also known as a cut-off wheel, is a thin, circular blade used to make precise cuts in materials like metal, concrete, or stone. They are typically used with tools like angle grinders, chop saws, or rotary tools. Cutting wheels differ from grinding wheels in that they are designed for making precise cuts at a 90-degree angle, while grinding wheels are used for material removal and smoothing at a shallow angle. 
  • Grinding Wheels are a specialized abrasive disc, typically made of bonded abrasive grains, designed specifically for grinding welds, removing slag, and smoothing rough surfaces on metal after welding, often featuring a coarse grit size to quickly remove material while still allowing for controlled shaping and finishing of the weld joint; it's commonly used on an angle grinder and requires careful selection based on the metal type and desired finish.
